Visions of Owls

Hola amigos. Just last week, Owl Vision‘s new music video for “Deathstar” was released. Needless to say, it’s HEAVY as fuck! Laden with screeching owl synths and growling zombie bass, this track is sure to stir up some commotion in the club, or the space between your ears. The video itself is marvelous too, and I’d expect nothing less from Punx Sthlm after seeing their work for The Black Death EP video teaser. One of my favorite works by them, however, HAS to be the video they did for GOOSE‘s electro-chiller, “Synrise“. It’s truly a visual spectacle that somehow meshes seamlessly with the comfortably haunting bomb; quite the marriage of audio and video. Anyways, back to the zombie face.. “Deathstar” is set to be released on June 14th on Owl Vision’s own, Comorbid Records, at all fine online music stores I’m sure. Can’t wait for the remix EP either. With a remix from Sex Cult‘s Skitsnygg already lined up, how could you not be psyched? So without further ado, I present “Deathstar”. BONUS mini-mix featuring an Owl Vision remix below!!

Owl Vision

It’s been quite some time since we’ve thrown some tracks up from our favorite zombie face (this time in the flesh!), Johannes Arnesson, aka Owl Vision. Recently, he’s been writing tracks for his upcoming album, remixing songs, and getting his forthcoming The Black Death EP ready to be unleashed. The EP is set to drop on February 14th on Dga Fäu Records, featuring remixes from Q.G., Baroque, Dumme Jungs, and fellow Swedes, F.O.O.L. Be on the look out for it! Below you’ll find two of Johannes’ most recent remixes and a preview of F.O.O.L’s remix of “The Black Death”, that’re sure to tap into the dancing ghoul inside of you. I saw Chromeo last sunday (8/22) In Brooklyn. They were headlining as one episode of the month long Pool Party shows. Not only was it amazing, but it was free (so was the beer from Brooklyn Brewery)! They played their singles from their new album “Business Casual” set to release 9/14 and let me be first to tell you…it’s going to be a classic album. Here is my favorite remix of their new single “Don’t Turn The Lights on”.

Feature Friday Vol. 10: Owl Vision with an Exclusive Interview

A good friend of mine introduced me to Owl Vision‘s massive track ‘Dancing Remix‘, a little over a year ago. I’ve been hooked every since. My first reaction was something like, “HOLLYY SHIITT!!”, I had never heard anything like it before. I’ve always been a fan of heavy music that gets right up in your grill, and Johannes Arenesson’s (the man behind the zombie face) music does not disappoint. Yes, it is grimy, yes, it is filthy, and yes, it’ll get you dancing. Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, Johannes has remixed the likes of Katy Perry, The Sterehoes, Miss Li, and The Toxic Avenger, giving their tracks his signature sound- described on his last.fm page as “a kind of thrash/electro/disco house kind of music”, or more aptly put, deathelectro. He’s played a slew of shows and festivals around Sweden, even replacing Uffie, due to a broken foot, as the main act at the Emmaboda Festival! Unfortunately, he hasn’t made it to the US yet, due to a lack of Stateside representation. So, to all of you agents out there: GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND BRING HIM TO THE US!! Check out these two tracks, off his album Leprozy (available on iTunes, along with a handful of EP’s), “Antichrist” and, the appropriately titled, “Fucking Ill”.
