Louis La Roche

CHECK OUT HIS FEATURE FRIDAY

LOUIS LA ROCHE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW!

1) There are so many subgenres of house, why did you pick to go with the funky french house style?

It’s a genre i’ve grown up with. I was born in 1990, so for me, songs like ‘music sounds better with you’ was a bedtime story!

2) Who are your main influences?

I can’t really pinpoint any names. Simply because theres too many. All the House Music, Disco, Funk, Soul legends.

3) Your samples seem to be extremely obscure, but awesome! Did you grow up listening to vinyl records?

I did! My parents would always play their old favourites to me. Then i discovered my Fathers record collection and just went wild before starting to buy my own vinyl.

4) What is your production set up?

Mainly FL Studio, but depending on the track, sometimes Ableton.

5) What is your musical background?

I think i knew from a very young age that i wanted to do something in music. One day i wanted to learn to play the drums, next i wanted to learn the guitar. I never settled on an instrument. Instead i turned to DJing and music production. Bands never worked for me, the idea of being your own boss and becoming a one man band appealed to me alot.

6) Have you ever wanted to try a new genre of electronic music?

Of course! I write all kinds of music, i just don’t know what to do with them yet! haha. I think one day, maybe once my album is out. I will put out all this other music i’m working on.

7) When it comes to quality house producers, you tend to be on the younger side. What advice would you give to young producers out there?

I think the main thing is to develop. When writing a song, when you think you’re finished…keep going! Add more, try new sounds, listen to it alot, think of ways you can improve. Just because your happy with it, doesn’t mean its done.

8 ) If you were to somehow end up on Antarctica for the rest of your life, what three albums would you bring with you?

In no particular order, i would say.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

DJ Shadow – Endtroducing

Aphex Twin – Drukqs
